copy the stuff, go to new weblog entry, check "edit html", paste it, then uncheck "edit html". Then submit and click join. at least, this is what I did. Waiting on my email now.

for xanga I suggest:

click on your name in the top right hand corner between xanga and log out
click on your profile on left side
click on interests
paste the html into either "interests" or "expertise"

click on save changes.

tah-dah, it'll be right under your profile picture !

yes, davina, if you just put it in a new post it will drive traffic to you but you won't drive traffic to other people.

Okay, I did it and got the email... do I have to change the html code that I added before hitting join? Do I need to do something to have the right site ID number in the code? HELP!!! ;)

just copy and paste, the code is right. yes, the ID is marnie because i didn't know what they were asking when they said "ID" :bag

i thought they meant user ID. Anyway, i can't change it without redoing it now.

in the meantime, i need to approve everyone manually so i'll do it a few times a day. you should get an email confirm when it's done.

ok, i just approved those who had correct code and there were two people who had applied who had no code on their site. you have to have the code in place before you join.

Okay, I think I got it set up. I tried pasting in the reviews or events and it didn't work for me. Rachel suggested going into Look & Feel and adding it to the Custom Module and VOILA! (Thanks Rachel :mwah )

copying and pasting the code onto your site is the FIRST thing you need to do. when you sign up, the blogring scans your site for the code. if the code isn't there, you're rejected.

So how does the 'ring' part work? Do I just hit that list and see who is there? And am I not on the list b/c I am 'out' or b/c I am looking at my own list and don't need to see me? (How is that for a confusing sentence)

are the instructions on the page not clear? if not, i need to know so i can change them. but it does say "Copy and paste this code to your site, then click on "Join" in order to join the ring. The code must be on your site before it can be added to the ring." and i figured that was pretty clear. if not, please let me know what would be more helpful.

I got that part fine...but are we supposed to do anything after we get the email from you and log in to the site where the blogring is? I logged in and told it to save changes......

I have now pasted it in my weblog entry in the same manner that Davina suggested. Last night I posted the code in my reviews, events and custom module. I don't have favorites or interests.

I can see the button on my profile page and now on my main page.

WHEW! I have done a lot to be rejected for not being able to recognize or see the code - the code is in 4 places. I cannot join again as it says I have already joined w/ my URL/site name - I did this last night.

I've done all I believe I can, so if I can't be a member I have found that I can come in and peruse your sites via the link on my site. WooHoo, I am not totally out of the loop:)

I put it in my Custom Module on Xanga but I have a skin and none of that stuff shows up on my main page. Will it let me join or should I take the skin off?

if it's not on your main page it won't see the code and won't accept you.

BTW, this isn't me being elitist, this is how the ring works to make sure a bunch of unrelated sites don't slide into our ring.

You could also go to someone else's site and click on the list and see if your name shows there.

I was wondering if I needed to copy the code I got in the email to my site or the one listed on this thread. You know I wish there were a way for this to let us know when someone updates their blog...I spend a lot of time looking only to find that it is the same entry I read the last time. (And I know most of us are too busy with family and knitting to blog every day - or spend much time reading blogs every day---I just do it to avoid housework!)
