Finally, I am going to do a basic soaker class! I have been meaning to get this going.

Call on all your friends who have been wanting to knit soakers but are worried to try! This is the easiest, most hand-holdy class there is. Here (http://woolywonder.com/class) is the class information. Here (http://woolywonder.com/class/syllabus) is the syllabus.

Class registration is here (http://woolywonder.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=2).

TEN DOLLARS off the class price with this coupon code: springclass. Share the coupon with all your friends online who just learned to knit and want to make a soaker. Coupon expires April 1st!

Tried and true yarn available at Wooly Wonders by Nada (http://hyenacart.com/woolywondersbynada/index.php?category=3).

This class teaches a knit-to-fit soaker in any yarn, but bulky is suggested to make the project go more quickly. I believe Nada has a new heavy worsted yarn.

Other mamas who have yarn that is appropriate, go ahead and post to this thread! Spam away, baybee!

Great class, Pam! The world could use more knitters.

We have some fabulous, incredibly soft Galenas Merino in a worsted weight that is a joy to knit with. Also a heavy worsted weight merino blend (Peregrine) and a bulky merino (Riddermark). All three make great soakers.

You can get them instock every Monday night at www.universalmama.com, and we also take custom orders -- pick a yarn and colorway! www.irishbabyknits.com

I finally decided to join when I got the group message about the class. I am so excited!

I sent a lengthy email to Pamela w/ loads of questions.

I would LOVE to see the kit, how soon will you have it?

IrishBaby

You can knit the soaker with that wool. (Hillary does lovely work!) Just be aware that that particulary yarn has a smaller gauge and it will take you a bit longer to complete the knitting.

not a silly question at all...My only concern with the yarn (and remember I am PamM not to be confused with Ms. Wooly Wonder Pam G) it how much alpaca is in it...Alpaca doesn't have the lanolin content of wool, is very 'drapey' (meaning things knit have a tendency to lose their shape) AND Alpaca is really hot

I don't think I would attempt it unless it was a very low alpaca content....BUt the yarn is beautiful and would make a great scarf for you!

hmmm---longer to knit--- probably not a good think to start with. but that's okay i'll save it for a sweater for the fall and a hat or something. Besides I would rather learn how to dye my own wool anyway .... Thanks...

Oh boy! The first day of class is almost here! I am so excited! I have actually planned a trip around the DYEINGDYEINGDYEINGDYEINGDYEING class. We were supposed to be gone all that week and part of the week after & I just couldn't have that sort of delay on my first knitting homework!:shake

I look forward to meeting everone in the class and learning lots from both of the Pams!:sunshine

First hand-holding question!!! :lookroun:

How do I sign up for the usergroup? I followed the directions above, and now when I go into the User CP, it says that I'm in the class group. However, when I actually try to get into the group (via the main forums page), I find that I can open 'Pamela's Posts' but nothing after that. It asks for a username/pwd. I tried my forum name and pwd and I tried my email and pwd (like for my account when I paid). Neither worked, and I even quit the group and then rejoined.

Help!!

Look here. (http://woolywonder.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=124)

Scroll down, past the lessons and subforums. You should see a thread by Pamela titled "Welcome to the Class!!"

There isn't anything in there.

When we go to the U and click on see the class, under Posts, it says two. But when you go in to the class you see the Syllabus and the individual sessions listed and that is all.

You can access the Syllabus and it reads just like the Syllabus link on the site. When you try to access any of the sessions, you are prompted for a password. The only other area inside the class that shows a post is the Appointment calendar and that cannot be accessed either.

The Syllabus says the sessions will be most likely posted on Sunday night, so that makes since that we cannot see anything.

I know she has to approve us after joining the group and am assuming that a password will be emailed to us or provided with the session info.

I can't imagine that there is anything we are missing yet and am sure she will get all the info as we need it.

I must admit - the anticipation is killing me!:pezfrog

make sure the forum is set to show posts from the beginning, sometimes that hangs people up.

it's entirely possible there is some error by me.. I'm working on it!

There's a mama trying to put a group together. If I can get a group of at least five interested parties, I am willing to run a class. I'll throw in the embroidery class with it at no extra if people want it!

You might want to join the wooly wonder 101 yahoo group for updates and discussion.
