Just wanted to check because they have them and I want to try doing a pattern with circular needles, but I just dont know much about knitting and what you need to do it with, so I must ask, LOL
-Sara, who taught herself to knit just a couple of weeks ago on size 8 metal needles from walmart and now wants to try a project with circular needles.

The needels from WalMart are okay. Probably more acceptable if you haven't knit with any of the other brand of needles out there.
If you are planning on the "magic loop" you may find the needles at Wally world aren't long enough for that, but otherwise fine.
I have become a needle snob and doubt if I could use Wally World needles and feel comfortable. But I know when price is the object that is the place to go! (And my best friend manages the craft dept. at one of the local stores.)

yeah I am not sure about the magic loops thing, it looks hard right now since knitting in the round alone looks confusing, LOL

I haven't braved the magic loop myself. But really I think it is all in the set up. All you are really doing is pulling the cable out in certain spots so that you can work on the item ---- so you can move the needles and not stretch out the work. Or at least that is my take on everything I have read. NOT that I think I could do it and do two legs at one time though.

They are ok.... if you are a beginner they will work for a while. But I think they are "noisy" and the yarn doesn't "slide well" on the needles. Plus the cord has a "good memorry" and likes to stay curled and sort of stiff.
If you want a good set of inexpensive needles, at Michaels I found a set of Susan Bates "silverado" needles. I got a pair to "tie me over" until I could buy the Addi's this weekend and they seem fairly good. They are lightweight, not noisy, and the yarn slides well over them.
In my opinion, if you can splurge... go for it and get a good pair of Addi Turbos or Onyx needles. I have heard great things about the Denise needles, but have never seen them, so you might want to check those out as well. They Boyes are ok.... but if you can start with something better I would recommend it.

Well the only other place to get needles(regular or circ) besides walmart is online, or drive for an hour, which isnt a trip I want to make just for needles.
(I like the clicking of the metal against itself, am I weird?)

Well... if all you can get right now is Wal-Mart.. go for it.
Sometimes I like the clicking... and sometimes I knit in places (like church :bag ) that required quiet knitting.
But next time you go to town... be sure to treat yourself to at least just a visit to the yarn store or knitting store.

Hi All,
I just wanted to jump in here...I am somewhat of a needle snob myself..lol...so I won't even touch the 2 pairs of boye needles I have, but again, I don't touch straight needles anyway, so I guess I'm just wierd. But then, I'm a "hooker" anyway, so give me a hook anyday! LOL
I'd say try out the WM needles, and then when you can treat yourself to some nice needles. I haven't tried the Addis, but I love my Inox needles.. :)

I did ONE project (my first soaker) on a pair of Boye circs and well..there is a reason I only did one project LOL..the joins are horrible and the cord is stiff.
I'd personally pay shipping and order soemthing better online. If you want knitting to be an enjoyable experience, don't frustrate yourself when start out. Bates are a good alternative, but I swear by Addi Turbo

Well I got the needles from walmart, they only had 1 length so I got size 7 29".
I know they arent the best but right now I cant get what I want so it will do for practice.
When I have the chance I want to get some needles to use with the ML, so Ill get good ones then. Right now I just want to try knitting in the round.
