I want to make sure my new dipes have enough layers, but I don't want to go crazy, and have the kids sitting on a saddle, KWIM? So will you help me fill in this table? Please tell what the layers are made of, like, a tri-folded wash cloth would be 3 layers of terry. I can cut and paste your answers into this one. Thanks all!
Example:
Age waist " # Fabric ......................Total
2 ....18"......3 Terry
.................2 MFT (Microfiber)
.................5 Flannel.......................10
To save yourself time, you could cut and paste this, and just change the data.
Thanks, Patti
ETA the dots in between the numbers, so they'd be aligned in columns

Elias is 2yrs 3months, and in his diapers, I use a snap in of 2 layers of Burley knit terry, topped with microfleece. Adding a doubler for overnight. With the 2 layers of sherpa in the body of the diaper included, he has about 5 layers to soak up. Its nice and trim, and allows for the extra stuffin' for nights and car trips.
Hayden is 5 months, 18lbs and he wears the same diapers, same snap ins. But I use a single layer of burley knit terry w/ micro for the doubler instead of 2 layers like I do for Elias.
I just got my Hemp Fleece, so I am playing around with combos, seeing what is best. Personally, I prefer a trimmer diaper with the option of adding to it with a doubler. I cant stand when Elias's pants dont fit in the rear even though they are his size and brand NEW!

I don't make them any differently for different stages. I make some fitteds out of 1 outer layer of a cute cotton fabric (sometimes flannel, sometimes cotton fleece, or a cute print), a hidden layer of hemp fleece, and an inner layer of cotton velour. I sew an internal soaker in there as well using 2 layers of hemp french terry. Then I have a snap in doubler made from 2 layers of hemp fleece or hemp terry (usually topped with microfleece).
I also make some two in ones. I use a cute cotton fabric on the outside again, a hidden layer of ProCare, and I line the inside with microfleece. And I make trifolds to lay inside, made of 2 layers of hemp fleece or 2 layers of cotton fleece, topped with microfleece.
My night time diapers are 2 layers of hemp fleece with a 2 layer hemp fleece trifold laid inside. Sometimes I add a 2 layer flannel trifold as a booster.
Anyway, I find my diapers pretty trim for cloth diapers and they work very well for us.

Age waist " # Fabric ......................Total
6m ....16.5"....4 hemp terry
...................1 microfleece
.................................................. ..5 for a daytime diaper (2 body and 2 soaker)
....................2 body layers of hemp terry
....................6 soaker layers in 3 seperate soakers put into the fitted pocket
....................1 microfleece
....................9 total
I want things to dry easily and when I make them myself I prefer micro lined to keep his skin dry.
I like seperate soakers that are sewn in on one side only so they aren't lost but they aren't totally attached so they can dry easily.
