Grr Kitchner is giving me fits again, why's it keep purling?

I must not have paid enough attention when the lady at the LYS showed me how to start. Once its started I am fine, but I am not setting it up right or something :irked

I am following the directions in F&F pattern and it keeps turning out purled. What am I doing wrong?

I tried following the directions at knitting at noon and it is purling as well.
