I'm going to try to make my second pair of longies/shorts. The first I made with the F&F pattern, which is just a tube and then split to DPN for the legs. I think as long as the rise has a little extra in it, you get a good fit.

I also have the LTK longies pattern and I don't want to make her pattern exclusively for a few reasons, one of which is that I don't want to make a particular size. I do like the idea of short rows, so I'm interested to try to version of that in working out my own pattern. In looking at her directions for "crotch shaping", I'm not sure that it's necessary and her explanation isn't that clear to me. However, I know other WAHM's do a gusset or some shaping in the crotch so I'm wondering if you think it's necessary, helpful, or worth it (or none of the above).

My shorts and pants patterns have a type of crotch gusset. I personally think it gives a much better fit. My older pattern didn't have it, it just had a few stitches between the legs, and I found there wasn't enough give and it seemed a bit thin at the join between the crotch and the legs. I've never made a pair where you just split the stitches, but I would think that the legs wouldn't be tight enough to hold in bf poop. Just my :two :)

The best crotch shaping I've seen for shorts/pants is the woolywonders pants one. I joined the class just so I could try it, and it's great. I've tried the LTK and seen the Holy Sheep crotches, but I like the Wooly Wonder best by far. It's worth buying the pattern just for that!

I am a HUGE fan of Pam's woolywonder shorts. The diamond shaping is so cool and clever. I love it!!!!
